Spinning Supply List
It was brought to my attention that a supply list would be a valuable resource for spinners both new and experienced, so I spent a week going through my fleet and supplies I reach for on a regular basis and then trawling the internet for links to help make it easier to source supplies that you may be looking for to round out your arsenal. While some of these items are absolutely necessary to the making I do while some of them are just nice to have, I will say this did take me some time to amass and some of the items on my list are newer to my process. I imagine this will be a living list and as I find things I love and welcome them into my process, I will add them to this list.
Many of the links on this list are affiliate links which means there is no additional cost to you but if you choose to purchase through them, you are offering monetary support to me and the work I do here and if you do choose to do so, you have my heartfelt gratitude.
My Spinning Fleet
These are all of the wheels I currently spin on. I was very sad to hear that Lendrums are out of production but may of them can still be found secondhand. I alternate between my treadle wheels and my electric spinners based on what I’m working on and what spinners are available at the time and while they have differences between them, I love them all and they all have a place in my fleet.

Tech and Accessories
These are all the supplies I use to round out spinning yarn. Some of them are more necessary – a Lazy Kate to hold your bobbins for plying and a niddy noddy to skein yarn are definitely tools I think every spinner needs but there are always DIY options while you’re considering where to invest your money – while some of then are nice to have and help round out my sweater spinning process like a bobbin winder or yardage counter. My Whirligig is worth its weight in gold but I don’t think it is very necessary unless you’re a higher output spinner and hand winding skeins are a barrier to finishing your yarn.

Books
These are the books in my spinning library and I refer to these weekly – the Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook, aka The Sheep Bible, lives at my bedside and I crack it open all the time. If you’re only looking for one book to start your spinning bookshelf, this is the one I recommend you start with.

Scouring and Processing Supplies
These are the supplies I use to scour and process raw wool. While there are a lot of soap options out there, I exclusively use Unicorn Power Scour and Fiber Rinse and it has yet to lead me astray. I know some makers use dish soap but I figure I would use the product intended for what I hope to use it for.
I have 72 TPI and 112 TPI had cards – both linked below – as well as medium and extra fine wool combs. My combs are Valkyrie but it seems impossible to get a pair of those these days so I’ve linked combs that I’ve heard are comparable. My manual drum carder was a Standard Brother but I’ve since moved on to a Fancy Kitty Tom Double Wide with electric motor to save my shoulder. I processed several fleeces on my hand crank model so it’s definitely possible to do so!
